Mysore. Yoursore.

This particular hostel which I wished to stay at had a strict check in time of 10am which meant that I had to sit directly outside the room full of empty beds for over 3 ½ hours before I was actually able to place my belongings beside my chosen bed and explore the town.

I met a guy, David who was willing to take me around the town in his tuk tuk for an extremely cheap price and so I couldn’t say no. he was such a lovely guy that I spent most of the day going to shops to ‘look around’ just so that he would get paid petrol money by each shop. He took me to see Chamundi Hill, some gardens and cathedrals before ending with the Maharaja’s Palace. He told me that the palace was something that I simply had to see when it was dark as there are thousands of lights which cover the palace. I agreed and obtained free entrance to the courtyard to find the most amazing sight. Given that I had never been to Disneyland as a child, THIS was my Disneyland. The closer I got to the palace, the closer my bottom jaw was to the ground. It was the following morning that I entered the palace to find out that there are more than 97,000 lights with surround the palace. I was stunned.

Having gotten rather close to David and overhearing that it was his birthday; there wasn’t another option but to invite him to the cinema to watch Men in Black 3(D). In the morning he was so grateful and excited about having made a friend that he wanted to introduce me to his wife and children. Upon arrival at their home I didn’t feel the most welcome and his wife seemed more confused than interested as to why I was there. But I was given delicious homemade cake and then was taken to the find a bus to my next destination.
